Programming has always been a passion of mine since I started coding in grade 10, making simple calculator and tutor programs on Netbeans. The thing I love about programming is that you have the ability to create something from nothing that can help make other’s lives easier.
Projects
MouthPiece
- Mouthpiece is a fun phone app that synchronizes the lip movements of an animated image of a mouth with a voice stream recorded using the phone's microphone. The Mouthpiece is accompanied by a web service to support the installation, configuration and customization of Mouthpiece. I was part of a large team of students that developed the app as part of our Software Engineering module at UP."
Argus (Home Security System)
- I worked in a team of 6 students developing a home security system that uses AI to detect and recognize people and alert the home owner of a possible intrusion. The recognition software was has an accompanying webapp to provide the user with a portal to view their security cameras, relative lists of users and people and update their profiles and settings. The project was developed for Epi-Use Labs as part of a Software Engineering module at UP."
Community Service
From March 2017 to November 2017 our student group of four students had to spend 40 hours each of community service for a university module named JCP 202. The main objective of our team was to preserve over 260 old documents in the office of General Jan Smuts by scanning the files into PDF documents and digitally organizing them into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. This project was a University of Pretoria driven program to give back to our surrounding communities.
